You can then copy and paste only articles you would like to save.CONTENDSGRANDMA'S BEEF -STEW AND DUMPLINGSGRANDMA'S WHIPPED SHORT BREAD COOKIESSQUEAKY CLEANSTAIN REMOVALLIGHTSIDEFOOD, HEALTHY LIVINGHEALTH CONCERN AND SENIORSRESPONSIBLE DRINKINGBAR MIXESTOP MALLS SAVEGrandma's Beef-Stew & Dumplings1 pound(500 g)stew beef3 tablespoons.....(45 ml)flour1 clove of garlicsalt and pepper to taste1 medium size onion, chopped3 carrots1 turnip, diced1 bay leafCut meat into cubes. Roll in flour and brown in hot oil.Add chopped onion and garlic. Add salt and pepper to taste.Stir until onion is a golden brown. Add enough water to coverthe meat. Bring to a boil. Simmer gently for 1 -2 hours.Add rest of vegetables hour before stew is served.YIELD: serves 4-6TIME: 15 minutes preparation, approx.2 hours to cookDumplings2 cups.(500 ml)all purpose flour4 teaspoons(20 ml)baking powder teaspoon(2,5 ml)salt2 tablespoons(30 ml)shortening cup(185 ml)milkSift flour. Add baking powder and salt and sift again.Cut in the shortening and add milk. Drop into simmering stewgently, being careful to drop a piece of meat or vegetable sothat it will not be immersed. Cover the kettle.GRANDMA'S WHIPPED SHORT BREAD COOKIES1 pound.(500 g)butter or margarine3 cups.(750 ml)flour1 cup.(250 ml)icing sugarBeat with mixer until creamy. Drop on cookie sheet and bakeat 350 F, (175 C), until slightly brown.YIELD: makes approximately 5 dozen cookiesCALORIES: approximately 80 calories per cookieTIME: 1 hour (includes cooking and cleaning time)Squeaky CleanGerms and kitchen are like a married couple, always close by. Germs really love the kitchen, especially sponges, dishcloths and sinks. You can disinfect all three by soaking sponges, and dishcloths for 5-10 minutes in the sink in a solution of cup Clorax Regular Bleach and one gallon of water.
